Being in Southern Alberta, we are so fortunate to have amazing diversity in landscapes and nature, ranging from the towering Southern Rocky Mountains, the flat windy prairies, to meandering coulees.
To have fun, we MUST be safe! What do I need to explore these with students... Explore the Toolbar above to discover how you can begin and excel your outdoor education program. |
Inquiry Question: In what ways can an outdoor education program be introduced, become more applicable to student place-based learning, and adhere to the geographic surroundings in which a Southern Alberta school resides?
About Me |
My name is Griffin Contini and welcome to my PSIII Professional Inquiry Project (PIP). Here you will find numerous resources and information that will help you become an outdoor education teacher, as well as the foundations for building your program in a Southern Alberta school. I am a PSIII Student Intern from the U of L working out of Coleman, Alberta. I have a long history of personal outdoor education and a desire to share my knowledge with my school, the Livingstone Range School District, and surrounding communities. Throughout my life, I have volunteered and worked in numerous outdoor occupations and outdoor safety management operations that aim to promote wilderness safety. Through my experiences forest firefighting, tree planting, ski patrolling, backcountry skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, I also aim to build safety as a priority while learning about the outdoors. My PIP comes from a life-long passion born of growing up, living, exploring, and working in the Rocky Mountains. Ironically enough, I grew up without an outdoor education program. For those who have no idea where to start, this website will explore the many resources that can provide you with the ability to develop the foundations for an outdoor education program, and a guide to the personal certifications required to be able to do so. |
