Global Environment and Outdoor Education Council (GEOEC)

This is the first foundational step you as a teacher want to explore.

GEOEC is an Interdisciplinary Specialist Council of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA).

Mission Statement:
to provide resources and venues for dialogue and networking, as well as to promote quality professional development for Alberta teachers. Members receive current news items, food for thought through our journal Connections, teaching ideas, and information about our workshop series.

Joining this council provides you with lesson ideas from K-12, awards and grants, books, read aloud ideas and opportunities for members and teachers to become more involved in outdoor education.

Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC)

Mission Statement:

"The Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC) is the umbrella organization for the Canadian outdoor sector. The OCC addresses structural barriers hindering the ability of outdoor programs to reach their full impact.
OCC members represent the thousands of individuals and businesses who bring Canadians outdoors. Every year, these people offer powerful experiences to millions of Canadians and contribute billions of dollars to the Canadian economy.
Success means creating a reality where outdoor programs and their staff are recognized for their true value, the unfair risk perception associated with going outdoors is eliminated, governments invest to develop the sector, and other barriers such as unreasonable insurance premiums are removed."
