*Note - to teach ANY outdoor climbing, you MUST have a Top Rope Climbing Instructor (TRCI)/ACMG Guide Certification. For basic level indoor climbing, you must receive your Climbing Gym Instructor level 1 (CGI 1). Otherwise, you can hire a guide for your class - insurance policy depending.

How Can I Teach or Prepare My Students to Go Climbing?
Teach students knots.
Knowing how to tie knots and attaching them to your harness is a foundational action of climbing. Knowing how to tie various knots is also extremely valuable knowledge for almost all outdoor activities (e.g. bear hangs, tents, tarps, clothes hang...) The primary knot used in climbing is the Figure-8 knot. |

Go Rock Climbing!
Most climbing centres offer bouldering, wall climbing, auto-belays, clubs, school and after-school programs so that climbing is taught and encouraged through proper safety protocols and guidelines. Climbing centres are a great way to get your students into the community as they are the most accessible and affordable places to bring students to integrate them into the world of climbing.
