Need to Know

  • Red Cross offers 3 different backcountry first aid certifications:
    • Remote First Aid (20hr)
    • Wilderness First Aid (40hr)
    • Advanced Wilderness First Aid (80hr)
  • To run an outdoor education program, it is strongly advised in having at least your 40hr wilderness first aid.
  • An 80hr certification would be ideal.
  • EAs or other supervisors/chaperones attending the trip must have first aid certification. 20hr remote first aid would definitely be ideal.

Where Can I Get a Wilderness First Aid Certification?
